U.S. MARINE CORPS OFFICER SELECTION STATION LOS ANGELES
Hello,
Welcome to Officer Selection Station Los Angeles. Our office, led by Captain Cosme and Captain Ichord, interviews and selects some of America’s brightest college students throughout Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Kern Counties for opportunities to become Marine Corps Officers. The United States Marine Corps has been the elite branch of the Armed Forces since 1775. INC., the magazine for business entrepreneurs, characterized the Marine Corps Officer Program as “the best management training program in America.” (INC., April 1998)

Selected undergraduates can pursue a commission as a Marine officer through our paid summer internship, called the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC), while college seniors and graduates enroll in our Officer Candidate Class (OCC). Students that complete the training are automatically eligible for a monthly stipend of $350 and $5200 in tuition assistance.
THIS IS NOT ROTC . This is a commissioning program for full-time college students and college graduates not affiliated with the military.
For PLC, all training takes place entirely during the summer. There are no classes or other requirements during the academic year and no interruption in your studies. This makes it an ideal program for students who wish to pursue a commission as a Marine Corps Officer and allow them to focus on their academics throughout the school year. We’ve intentionally designed this internship with no obligation for active service. This arrangement lets you gain an appreciation for the opportunities and challenges of being an officer before you decide if it’s what you really want to do after college. The Marine Corps also incurs no obligation other than to let you demonstrate your leadership potential during the summer training.
Once you successfully complete this training and go on to receive your college degree, we’ll offer you a Presidential commission as a Marine Officer, at which time you decide either to accept this offer and become an active duty Marine Second Lieutenant or decline it to pursue other options.

The internship is conducted at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia, for either six or ten weeks depending on your academic class year. It is exceptionally challenging training designed to develop your mental and physical abilities and test your leadership potential. Qualified applicants are guaranteed flight training at Pensacola, Florida, to become a jet or helicopter pilot. Marine aircraft includes the F-18 Hornet, Harrier, and Cobra attack helicopter.
New officers may pursue one of a variety of career concentrations ranging from infantry to intelligence to logistics, but all positions provide new college graduates with immediate and substantial leadership training and experience and significant management opportunities. This is a position with full benefits and a very competitive compensation package.
